In the big scheme of things, this little blog is not important. That is made clear when big things (like a catastrophe) happen. I am very fortunate to now have two contributors, John and Kelly, who both happen to be good people. We are averaging somewhere about 40 unique visitors per day -- no big deal, but if you would have told me when I started this site that we would get 40 people a day reading this blog, I would have been happy with that because that is 40 more than zero. So now, if just one person who happens to read this decides to donate just five dollars (TEXT YELE TO 501 501) -- I will be more than happy, but don't do it for me, do it to help relieve some of the suffering in Haiti. Thank you!

I donated money to Partners In Health, www.pih.org, they sound like they know what they are doing and have a good track record.
I saw on interview on MSNBC where the doctor being interviewed singled out Partners in Health as organization that is doing effective relief work. And, I believe he said that their operation in Haiti is staffed primarily with Haitians.
Author Tracy Kidder wrote an op ed in yesterday's NY Times saying the same thing, and that persuaded me to donate money to Haitian Earthquake releif through them. A publishers rep friend of mine also raised money for them in the past, and has nothing but praise for them.
